The Origin Energy rooftop on Collins Street has recently been transformed into a garden oasis, with the use of Multipanel products. Designed by Jamie Durie and his team from PATIO, this self sufficient, eco-friendly garden will not only block out the views of neighbouring buildings but also help soak up carbon emissions and reduce the buildings heat intake.
Ian Barker and Associates, winners of the 2008 Chelsea Garden Show, were enlisted to construct this new feature of the Melbourne skyline. Their expertise has created an outstanding natural setting for the Origin staff to relax and unwind. Durie is encouraging everyone to follow a greener, cleaner lifestyle. His philosophy is, “you can change the planet by starting with your own backyard."
When designing the outdoor space, the environmental impact of materials was carefully considered, this made MultiPanel the preferred option for several items due to its eco-friendly properties.
MultiPanel, a lightweight, waterproof, flexible building panel, was wrapped around the framework of the 6 person private ‘cocoon’ space, which was finished with synthetic grass and timber decking. The cocoon has become the standout item of the garden.
“We are all suffering from nature deficit disorder…I want to set an example for the rest of the corporate community” Jamie said - MultiPanel agrees and hopes to support future initiatives like these.
