The association recognises the interests of painters, decorators and signwriters
The Master Painters, Decorators and Signwriters Association of South Australia represents the interests of painters, decorators and signwriters operating within the state, as well as their employers.

The not-for-profit body was established in 1907 with the aim of providing the industry with an independent representative body, and it is owned by its members and governed by a member elected Committee.

The association has two main objectives:

  • "Assisting the interests of its members in a business sense" and,
  • "Ensuring that the professional standards of the industry are upheld"

The association has developed a range of initiatives, programs and events in order to achieve these objectives for painters, decorators and signwriters.

It has developed a Code of Ethics, which aim to ensure that members operate in a professional, ethical manner and provide quality products and services.

The Code of Ethics outline:

  • The obligations of painters, decorators and signwriters
  • The painters, decorators and signwriters obligations to their clients
  • Their obligations to other members
  • Their obligations to employees
  • Their obligations to the association
The association provides its members with information sessions which address various topics of relevance to the industry, as well as free training courses that are designed to enhance the professional skills of painters, decorators and signwriters.

When changes in relation to the Building & Construction Award, wage rates and allowances occur the association readily disseminates this information to its members in order to ensure they are being paid and paying their employees correctly.

The association also provides members with advice regarding the Award and any other industrial relations issues they face.

Members enjoy enhanced exposure to potential clients through the associations work referral service, an initiative that instils confidence in the consumer at is guarantees that the painters, decorators and signwriters they use are qualified, experienced and operate professionally.
