MANITOWOC Crane CARE in the Asia-Pacific region has a new mobile classroom solely for training dealer technicians. Built earlier this year at a cost of $137,000 and housed in a 13m container, the module’s interior is similar to an airplane cockpit simulator.
It is equipped with EPIC and Can-Bus software for crawler cranes, AT for rough-terrain cranes and EKS/ECOS software for all-terrain cranes. There are also systems for training on hydraulic and electronic component maintenance. Further development is planned which will see it accommodate other software as demand dictates.
The module is proving popular across the region, as Jack Lee, general manager of Crane CARE Asia-Pacific explained. “The training module is being used to complement Crane CARE programs. The vast size of the region makes it increasingly difficult for our customers to attend the various events we hold, so we made the decision to come to them. And it’s proved an extremely popular decision.”
It saves the expense and time of an overseas residential course. Training can be tailored to dealer needs with a five day session costing between $1,130 and $1,940 per person.
