Shade Structures - ACASPA announces MakMax Australia overall industry winner

MakMax Australia - Shade Structures

MakMax Australia  was recently presented with 2 awards at the Awards for Excellence held by the Australian Canvas and Synthetic Products Association (ACASPA).

MakMax Australia was successful at winning the Tension Structure Category as well as the Overall Winner for its ideal structure recently completed in Mumbai, India.

The structure was a colourful renovation of the Mumbai Domestic Terminal consisting of blue, green, white, orange and fuscia pillars. The aim of the design was to create a welcoming, open and vibrant entry point to the airport that protects travellers from the sun, heat and rain.

Adding to the structures aesthetic appeal is the way in which the inverted cones change height and width along the tunnel.

This gives the structure an ideal wave feeling, breaking free from standard streamlined awning projects and the individuality and creativity of the MakMax team has yet again been rewarded.

For 20 years, the Awards for Excellence have recognised skilful design, technological innovation and distinction in the specialty fabrics industry. The projects created by the industry continue to grow in scope as applications for specialty fabrics advance.

Selected from 61 entries around Australia, these winners represent many of today’s top professionals in the specialty fabrics industry.

Entries in 11 categories were judged by a diverse panel of industry experts, editors, architects, educators and design professionals selected for their knowledge of the particular category of competition. Judging was based on complexity, design, workmanship, distinctiveness and function.
