Moet and Chandon stretched membrane structure
Moet and Chandon stretched membrane structure

Designed by PTE Architects and Taiyo Membrane Corporation, the stretched membrane installation at the Moet and Chandon marquee at the 2005 Melbourne cup transformed the 10 x 10m area into an unusual and atmospheric event space inspired by champagne bubbles.

Provided by MakMax , the stretched membrane structure was designed using state-or-the-art material and technology, enabling the outer PVC membrane of the roof to have the pattern of bubbles digitally cut from it.

Inside, the tensioned layer of nylon Lycra fabric was engineered and installed by Taiyo Membrane Corporation and was manufactured directly from the computer model and was 100sqm in size and weighing 38kg.

The skin of the stretched membrane structures diffused the natural light coming through the outer roof producing a dappled, atmospheric glow.
