Lasting Impressions specialise in manufacturing a wide range of latchet hook rugs. Latchet hook rugs are made by carefully choosing coloured materials and then cutting them into lengths using wool gauge. Latchet hook rugs provide warmth and hence are especially useful in winters.
Lasting Impressions established a one day workshop at Elizabeth Town Bakery Cafe in 2004. Deloraine Hook Rug Group workshop was funded by Artsd Deloraine. Joanne Wild, proprietor of Lasting Impressions, lives at Elizabeth Town in Northern Tasmania. Joanne Wild is actively reviving the folk art and craft of making latchet hook rugs with recycled carpet wool. Joanne Wild has a background in textiles, printmaking, and teaching diverse community groups. A number of materials are used in the making of latchet hook rugs. Materials used include hook rug mesh, Hessian tape and 2 and 3 ply carpet wool.
Lasting Impressions offer latchet hook rugs which are available in a wide range of colours, textures, styles and sizes to suit individual taste and requirements. Pricing depends on specific application. Lasting Impressions also conduct workshops in schools, online centres and community groups.
