New PETG sheet line with Eastman Spectar Copolyester

Polyethylene Terephtalate Glycol sheets
To respond to increasing demand for copolyester (
Polyethylene Terephtalate Glycol or PETG)
sheets in Asia,
Laserlite Australia has launched a line of Polyethylene Terephtalate Glycol sheets using industry leader Eastman Chemical Company’s Spectar copolyester resin. This pliant material is ideal for creating stand-out point-of-purchase displays, in-store fixtures and interior design applications.
Rod J. King, managing director of Laserlite said, “Producing PETG sheet with Spectar copolyester has opened up new doors for Laserlite to better service our customers by offering them more material options. Thanks to the versatility and fabrication advantages of Spectar copolyester, we can manufacture the PETG sheet using our existing machinery, which adds up to large savings.”
“Eastman has also been a valuable partner, providing market development insights, invaluable technical expertise and support in fine-tuning our processes.”
Harnessing the many benefits of Eastman’s Spectar copolyester, Laserlite’s robust Polyethylene Terephtalate Glycol sheet possesses good fabrication and thermoforming properties, empowering designers and fabricators to efficiently create intricate three dimensional shapes with relative ease. The sheet requires no pre-drying at comparatively low thermoforming temperatures and possesses a unique 3D deep draw thermoforming capability.
Laserlite’s Polyethylene Terephtalate Glycol sheets allow light transmittance of up to 90%. Ideal for screen printed displays and interior fittings where ease of printing, high clarity and an eye-catching glossy appearance are desirable.
Eastman’s Spectar copolyester resin meets the requirements of part three of European Standard EN71 and has been awarded GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification.
Sheet created with Spectar copolyester is safe for use in many equipment applications that have direct contact with food and beverages. Applications such as dispensers and food moulds benefit from the material’s chemical resistance and easily malleable properties.
Taka Notoh, Asia Pacific commercial manager, Eastman Chemical Company said, “Having had a successful, long-standing relationship with Laserlite’s parent company, Bayer, we are deeply committed to helping Laserlite grow and meet the changing needs of the market place.”
“With our technical knowledge and global perspective, we are confident that Spectar copolyester will help maximize brand owners’ profit yields and contribute to their sustainability practices.”
