The Laminex Group wins 2007 ICN Large Company Award
The Laminex Group is the 2007 Large Company Award Winner in the Industry Capability Network annual Industry Achievement Awards.
The Laminex Group has developed a new timber veneer panel product for the Melbourne Convention Centre to achieve world class environmental standards, with the assistance of the Industry Capability Network (ICN.)
“This achievement is due to the combined efforts of The Laminex Group and it’s customer and suppliers, working together to innovate in the supply chain and develop a product with very specific requirements for one of Australia’s largest projects,” said Nick Capobianco, The Laminex Group’s National Product Marketing Manager.
Creating and supplying the product required a certain degree of commercial risk, as well as a new supply chain and processes.
ICN business capability advisers and architect Chris Taylor worked with The Laminex Group, to locate a forest source for spotted gum and suppliers to manufacture timber veneer panels with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification.
This positions The Laminex Group as an Australian company to manufacture and market FSC certified timber veneer panels. Laminex FSCTM Timber Veneer Panels are available from 3 December 2007.
The Melbourne Convention Centre is scheduled to open in 2009 and is designed to achieve a Six Star Green Star building rating as specified by the Green Building Council of Australia.
