Kennards Hire has launched equipment to assist with pipe laying, pipe detection and pipe damage analysis.
Pipe laser levels, pipe and cable locators, and pipe cameras can now be hired at select locations across the company’s network of more than 90 hire centres.
Baulkham Hills Shire Council hired a pipe laser level to assist with the laying of 750mm stormwater pipes after its own unit was stolen in the middle of the job.
“We needed a 1:8 gradient, and this unit made the job easy. If you turn it off and then later turn it back on, it just comes straight back to the 1:8,” said council crew member, David Hackett.
“It is very simple to understand and easy to operate. You can place the laser level either on top of the pipes or inside them.”
The pipe laser level has a range of up to 200 metres, and is quick and simple to set up. The pipe laser level rarely takes more than 10 seconds from power on to full accuracy.
A built-in battery has a long operating life, with a full seven-hour charge providing more than a working week’s operation.
In emergencies, 30 minutes of charge will give a full day’s use. The unit can also be powered off an external battery.
Kennards’ pipe and cable locators are simpler to use than some earlier models. They include a CAT (cable avoidance tool) and Genny, which can be used to a depth of just under a metre.
Pipe cameras will analyse damage in water, sewage and drainage pipes from 40mm to 150mm in diameter.
The waterproof and rugged colour camera head, with a diameter of only 22mm, can easily be pushed through bends of 90 degrees even in small pipe diameters of 40mm.
