Four thousand green and gold coloured, inflatable thongs were displayed at the Havaianas Australia Day Thong challenge with the help of generators and air compressors from Kennards Hire outlets in five states.
Enthusiasts took to the water at Bondi, Torquay, Noosa, Glenelg and Sorrento beaches to produce an image of Australians of all ages and backgrounds linked by floating thongs. The Havaianas Australia Day Thong challenge raised $70,000 for the Starlight Foundation and surf lifesaving Nippers.
The Havaianas Australia Day Thong challenge was organised by Urban Media, a youth-based marketing company, which is involved in ‘unique and powerful media alternatives, designed to reach directly into the lifestyles of targets.
According to Urban Media, Kennards Hire suggested a package of equipment for each beach, comprising a towable 20KVA generator, five compressors and five hand guns.
