Chroma-Q Color Force LED battens played a leading role in a major stage production on tour in the UK.
The LED battens have been specified by leading UK lighting designer Howard Harrison for the current Welsh National Opera production of ‘Die Fledermaus’, which is touring the UK after an initial run at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
The Color Force LED battens are being supplied by London-based hire company White Light, who purchased an additional stock of the 1.8m versions (Color Force 72) especially for this production due to the high demand for their existing hire inventory.
White Light has substantial stock of all three Color Force models including the 1.8m and 1.2m battens (Color Force 48) as well as the new 30cm wide multipurpose lighting fixtures (Color Force 12).
The 8 x Color Force 72s are being used to illuminate a massive white cyc at the back of the stage and are a key to the visual impact of the overall lighting, particularly coming alive during the second act, where they slowly, smoothly and subtly morph into a series of different vibrant and subtle pastel colours.
Howard first used Color Force battens on the West End musical Flashdance last year as an alternative to conventional cyc lighting and was greatly impressed by the many features of the lighting systems such as the brightness, homogenisation of the light source in addition to the wide range of colours and hues.
Having used other LED light sources earlier for this type of task, Howard believes that the Chroma-Q Color Force LED battens are brighter and have smoother dimming in addition to their well-engineered robust design that makes them ideal for touring.
Key features of Chroma-Q Color Force LED battens:
- Custom developed lens system ensures a proper smooth and even coverage across large areas with no hot spots, easily washing beautifully up to 8 metres
- Advanced ColorSure colour and control management technologies offer an enhanced colour palette, colour consistency, high CRI of 92 and theatrical grade dimming
- Ideal for a wide range of applications from theatre and opera to live events
- Reduced power consumption, long life and low maintenance requirements ensure cost-effective lighting
- Robust construction makes the lights ideal for touring productions
He comments that the LED battens, with their intensity, smoothness of fades and richness of colour are a lot superior to tungsten light sources.
White Light purchased their Color Force 72 battens from worldwide distributor, A.C. Entertainment Technologies Ltd.
In addition to a large stock of Color Force 48 and 72 battens and Color Force 12 multipurpose fixtures, White Light also has a range of Chroma-Q products including the Color Block and Color Punch LED fixtures, Color Web visual effects panels, Broadway scrollers and DMX Gobo Rotators.
Chroma-Q Color Force LED battens are available from Jands , a leading Australian distributor of lighting systems, sound equipment and staging equipment.
