The Interior Design Awards are calling for entries for the 2009 programme. Acknowledging and celebrating excellence in residential and commercial interior design from Australian design and architecture practitioners, 2009 marks the sixth staging of this internationally recognised annual event.
Each year, the programme generates thousands of dollars in publicity for entrants and provides Australian based designers with recognition for their work at the professional level. In 2008, 457 entries were received across the programme from 321 individual projects. Co-founded by the Design Institute of Australia, designEX and Artichoke magazine, the awards are self-funding and monies raised are used to deliver the programme.
On-line registrations for the 2009 Interior Design Awards are now open. Entry submissions will be accepted from Monday 17 November through to Friday 20 February for projects completed between 1 September 2007 and 31 December 2008. The presentation of awards takes place at Peninsula Melbourne on Friday 1 May 2009, coinciding with the Australian Institute of Architects Conference and designEX.
Judging is conducted under the supervision of the Design Institute of Australia and the 2009 jurors are Domino Risch (Practice Director, BVN ACT), Rowena Cornwell (Director, Coop Creative, QLD), Robert Backhouse (Managing Director, Hassell VIC), Angelo di Marco (Principal, Woodhead International NSW), Amanda Henderson (Director, Gloss Creative VIC), Jonathan Richards (Director, SJB Interiors NSW), Judith Abell (Partner, Forward Brianese + Partners TAS) and Daniel Dalla Riva, (Group Creative Director, Exponential Design VIC).
