Neville Smith Timber , Australia’s largest processor of native hardwoods, has launched the GoodWood brand to highlight the best properties of its Victorian Ash and Tasmanian Oak product.
The purpose of GoodWood is to build partnerships with people who want to design, build using or buy sustainable timber products. GoodWood is a stylish and high quality hard timber that is easy to work with and can be used in a range of residential and commercial applications including flooring, architraves, skirting, windows and doors, stair treads, handrails, balusters, furniture, commercial shop fitouts and glue laminated products.
Harvested from native regrowth forests, GoodWood was launched to reflect an attitude of environmental responsibility and a commitment to a sustainable future. Sawlogs are sourced from forest resources that are either independently certified or on the path towards certification. Harvesting is conducted on an 80 year sustainable rotation, so that what is harvested today will is regenerated and will not be utilised for another 80 years.
An example of GoodWood’s environmental focus is K2 Sustainable Housing, a six star energy rated public housing project in Windsor, Victoria, which features GoodWood windows, architraves, skirtings and doors as well as ESD features such as water recycling, solar panels, low VOC materials and a high use of recycled materials.
