INVISTA , manufacturers of nylon and the Antron carpet fibre, have released more than 20 new Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon colours, expanding a colour line. The colour additions will focus on the green, purple and blue colour families.
“The expanded Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon colour line is designed to deliver brighter, deeper and richer hues and tones to enhance styling capabilities,” said Bobby Berrier, Vice President, commercial interiors, for INVISTA based in the U.S.
“Our mill customers are already exploring ways to bring these new colours to their latest designs. We are proud to see that research and development efforts at INVISTA are blazing new trails in carpet styling innovation.”
This is the second phase of colour line build-out for Antron carpet fibre. In 2007, INVISTA converted their DSDN solution dyed nylon colour offering to the higher-performing Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon line, and then filled out the line with additional colours, bringing the total to 200 at the time.
Additional colour family build-outs are slated over the next 12 months to round out the hue, chroma and value in the line, with goal of delivery a dimensional colour offering in solution dyed nylon. Over 50 of these colours contain 25% pre-consumer recycled content.
“The Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon colour build-out is an unprecedented move for the commercial marketplace and demonstrates our commitment to the solution dyed nylon offering,” said Patsy Kuipers, fabric consultant for INVISTA also based in the U.S.
“Our goal is to enhance each of the colour families, and provide the industry with a well-rounded offering that will enable nuanced style treatments to carry across colourways, without compromise.”
“This latest build-out focuses on greens, blues and purples, where there is growing demand for subtle variations in hue and value,” said Patsy Kuipers.
“The preliminary mill work we have seen is inspired and fresh, particularly in some of the emerging modular tile designs, one of the fastest growing categories for solution dyed nylon. It is very exciting.”
According to Patsy Kuipers, green has been so widely used over the past decade that many designers treat it as a neutral.
The new additions to the Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon green family will provide more styling options for every cast, including yellow-greens, blue-greens and grey-greens.
When considering blues, Patsy Kuipers noted, “Historically, it has been most difficult to reach a consensus around what constitutes the ‘right’ blue.”
“Our blue family build-out will provide a range of values within the same cast, making it easier to find just the right blue, no matter the project.”
“And, with the recent resurgence of purple in fashion, we anticipate hues from this family will find their way into key accent elements in carpet styles for the commercial market.”
“With limited options for purple in the current colour line, this family became one of our main areas of focus.”
The Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon offers good performance in challenging commercial environments, featuring high colourfastness and appearance retention while standing up to frequent spills and stains, as well as exposure to intense sunlight and harsh chemicals.
Each colour is tested to meet exacting performance standards before it is commercialised to ensure it will withstand the abuses of real world installations.
The Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon can be found in numerous new and existing carpet styles available from leading carpet mills.
The Antron Lumena has been recertified as an Environmentally Preferable Product. It is constructed with type 6,6 nylon polymer, fibre engineering and treated with DuraTech soil resistance chemical treatment.
The carpets constructed of Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon are tested against the Antron brand Performance Standards Certification Programme, high fibre performance standard for carpet durability.
