Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport have installed broadloom carpet manufactured with Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon, available from Invista , in the passenger waiting areas and gateways. The new facility has custom loop pile carpet, manufactured by Bentley Prince Street.
One of the construction project team’s design objectives was to create a cozy and quiet environment for the passenger areas in the airport.
The project team decided to install carpet, an alternative to hard flooring to reduce the noise level in the passenger gate waiting areas.
Airport authorities installed a wool/nylon blend carpet. The construction project team of the Shanghai Airport Authority, responsible for the yarn specification wanted to learn about yarn options to ensure they selected the right combination to withstand the heavy traffic generated by passengers.
To help the construction project team write the yarn specification, Invista organised a resource seminar, ‘Specify and Select,’ to educate airport representatives on how to write yarn specifications for carpet bidding documents.
Additionally, members of the Airport Service company met with Invista representatives to learn how to maintain carpet manufactured with nylon to reinforce the importance of following a regular maintenance programme to ensure the durability of the carpet.
Shanghai International Airport holding Group observe that after seeing the red beverage stain demonstration, they found out that carpet maintenance actually begins with fibres.
Following the seminar, the construction project team selected Antron Lumena nylon fibre for the carpet bidding document as it offers durable colour fastness and stain-resistance.
