The Nortel Software Communication System 500 telephone system is supplied, installed and serviced by ICS Technologies .
The Nortel SCS500 is a PC-based, internet protocol telephone system. Targeted at businesses of 30 to 500 users, the platform is capable of 1000 users without adding any hardware. Connection to the outside world is achieved with gateways for Primary Rate ISDN lines, Basic Rate ISDN lines, analogue lines and analogue extensions.
The SCS500 telephone system has features provided by the user licence that include voice messaging, unified messaging, presence, multi-party conferencing, Microsoft Outlook plug-in and call centre capabilities. This makes estimating the cost of adding users easy – add the user license and add the level of telephone required by the user.
Each user license will support up to five devices such as desk phone, soft phone in a laptop or Windows Mobile device and an e-mail plug-in (Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes). A powerful feature called ‘find-me follow-me’ means staff will always be in contact.
Users can select how a phone call will be handled such as desk phone, soft phone, mobile phone and finally voicemail during the day and maybe just soft phone, mobile and voice mail at night. Up to five lists can be programmed, each with up to 10 destinations that are time of day and day of week dependent. System management is web based and users can be set up in just a few minutes.
The SCS500 telephone system can support a range of Session Initiation Protocol handsets from Nortel including the 1100 series, the 1200 series and Polycom Soundpoint range.
In addition to telephone systems, Nortel also manufacture a range of complimentary products such as Ethernet switches that protect and direct data traffic and wireless access points for network access anywhere in the premises.
