The Alice hosts 2007 CCF Earth Awards

2007 Civil Contractors Federation Earth Awards
The 2007 Civil Contractors Federation Earth Awards was recently held in Alice Springs in conjunction with the federation’s national conference.
Established to recognise outstanding performance in environmental management on construction projects, the Earth Awards have become an annual mile stone for the construction industry.
2007 was no exception with entrants coming together from a host of project types in locations spanning Australia.
Award ceremonies were held on the concluding evening of the conference with a gala dinner attended by 320 guests.
The evening entertainment included the orchestral brilliance of the String Angels and concluded with some antics from the Queensland CCF Branch with the announcement of the 2008 CCF conference to be held in Coolum.
However, the highlight of the evening came with the presentation of the Earth Awards for each category winner.
Split into four, each category was calculated based on overall project value with nominees undergoing a thorough judgement process prior to the event.
Category one was awarded to the Woy Woy Pedestrian Bridge Project coordinated by the Waegear Group with a principal cost of $910,800AUD.
For excellence in environmental management, Category 2 was taken home by the Cunningham Holdings, Clint Johnston & Associates and G&A Consulting, for the Wineglass Bay Walking Track and Carpark at a cost project cost of $2.1 million.
FRH were awarded Category 3 for project works completed on the Cobram Barooga Bridge falling between the awards category of projects $5 - $20 million.
Category 4 hosted projects between $20 - $75 million dollars with the prize going to Middleborough Road Rail Separation, for works completed by the Middleborough Road Alliance at a cost of $61 million.
CCF Earth Awards sponsor and delegate Robert Pearson from Hyundai Construction Equipment quotes “These award ceremonies showcase Australia’s commitment to construction development, and the alignment project management has taken toward environmentally sound practices”.
Hyundai Construction Equipment along with fellow members of the Earth Awards Sponsorship group have ensured the continued progression of environmentally affirmed construction whilst retaining an efficient and profitable industry.
