2007 Civil Contractors Federation Annual Conference held

2007 Civil Contractors Federation Annual Conference
Over 320 delegates attended 2007
Civil Contractors Federation Annual Conference held for the first time in Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
The conference speaker program was both interesting and dynamic with a number of hot industry topics presented and discussed.
The highlight of the event was the gala dinner and the announcement of the winning submissions for the CCF Earth Awards.
A number of networking opportunities and social events were included in the program which had a uniquely Red Centre theme including a CCF Henley-On-Todd Regatta.
According to Dave Stuart, general manager of Hyundai Construction Equipment the National Conference is strategically important for the company.
“The conference provides major equipment suppliers like Hyundai with an opportunity to meet customers and to support the peak industry body, The Civil Contractors Federation,” he said.
“We are a major supporter of the CCF, the National Conference and the Earth Awards as well and other CCF events. The Hyundai brand is now well established and we have a considerable population of equipment consistently delivering excellent performance to our customer base,” he said, “and supporting events like the National Conference and The Earth Awards enables us to invest in the future direction of the industry”.
The opening night, welcoming reception was sponsored by Hyundai Construction Equipment and a traditional aboriginal theme was chosen.
Local school children delighted delegates with a performance of traditional and South American drumming. Adults and children alike were then treated to an up close encounter with local reptiles and some of the deadliest snakes found on the continent.
“There really isn’t anywhere quite like Alice Springs, it’s a unique place,” said Stuart, “and we wanted the delegation to get an immediate feel for this part of the country and the aboriginal culture that dates back some 40,000 years”
According to Chris White, Chief Executive Officer (National) of the CCF, the support of the sponsoring companies is greatly appreciated.
“This year’s conference has been an outstanding success for the CCF and its members and our thanks go to our sponsoring companies. Without their ongoing support it wouldn’t be possible to stage these high class events,” he said.
