Holcim recently added a new book to their conservation series, A Climate for Life: Meeting the Global Challenge.
A Climate for Life is outlines the actions needed to stabilise the world’s climate. The book was launched on October 7 at the 2008 World Conservation Congress in Barcelona.
Harvard biologist E.O. Wilson and actor Harrison Ford co-author the book’s forward, and note that “the central message of A Climate for Life, [is that] the global environment cannot be stabilised and restored piece-by-piece and step-by-step. Its deterioration has to halt on all fronts, through intelligent and concerted action…”
The combined expertise of the contributing authors covers all areas of society related to climate change. The authors explore a variety of issues relating to climate change and present a clear plan of action.
Key points covered in A Climate for Life include:
- Climate destabilisation.
- Deforestation and degradation of tropical forests
- Solutions for stabilising the world’s climate right now
A Climate for Life is published in partnership with Conservation International and the International League of Conservation Photographers. Beginning in 1993, A Climate for Life is the 16th book in Holcim’s Conservation Book Series, which aims to inspire and raise awareness for the conservation of nature.
