Wool has been used as an effective source of insulation for over 300 years. Its breathable structure and ability to lock in air between its fibres surpasses the capabilities of man-made fibres. The result is a superior solution for thermal and acoustic applications.
Taking into account that energy conservation is paramount, Higgins Insulation has developed a natural wool insulation solution, specifically designed for Australia’s diverse weather conditions.
Why Wool?
Wool is a natural fibre that traps air and resists heat flow. Research suggests that these attributes, in addition to the fact wool embodies the least amount of energy of all insulating materials, make wool a successful insulator. While wool is able to shed water, it also has the ability to absorb water vapour. Research conducted by the International Wool Secretariat has confirmed that the manner in which wool can deal with water makes it effective at stabilising temperature and reducing peak humidity levels and condensation.
Adhering to BS 5803.4, Higgins New Wool Batts (Fire Retarded) are manufactured from natural wool fibre and treated with Disodium Octaborate. This treatment makes the product resistant to fire and deters insects.
Higgins wool insulation is manufactured from Australian wool and is fully tested for safety. The company offers a number of thermal and acoustic wool insulation products to suit various requirements and budgets. All products are guaranteed for life.
