In a league of its own
When Altis architects approached Helioscreen to help solve a direct heat problem at the Balmain Leagues Club, the result was an outstanding success.
Naturally, however, this perennial Australian arose again. This time, it was the Canterbury Leagues Club, where unwanted excess heat was generated not only from vertical glazing, but also from the roof structure.
The architects needed a solution that would not obstruct the glorious views available to the club’s indoor patrons, especially on the very sunny days that caused the heat problem. Helioscreen supplied its external motorised roller blind system for the vertical application and the new Varioscreen system for the horizontal roof structure.
All the systems are motorised and controlled automatically by SOMFY motors and sensors. The sensors monitor the sun and wind and keep the blind and screen systems at the optimum extensions for the prevailing conditions. In addition to the automatic operation, a manual override switch is close at hand.
