Buffalo lawnmower, brushcutter available from Honda MPE

Honda MPE  continues to prove its commitment to produce products in Australia from its Melbourne manufacturing facility.

The recent sale of Australian company, Victa Lawncare, serves as a strong reminder that many well known brands are selling their local manufacturing businesses to multinationals or moving their operations overseas.

According to Honda Power Equipment Manager, Ray Briffa, Honda maintains a strong belief that local manufacturing is key to ensuring its product meets demanding Australian conditions.

"Honda is dedicated to servicing the needs of the Australian consumer by ensuring our products are designed and manufactured to meet the highest standards necessary to excel in Australia," he said.

"Our commitment toward this end is evident when looking at the expansion of our Campbellfield (Melbourne) manufacturing site to more than double its previous size around 18 months ago - Honda currently produces its entire Buffalo lawnmower range from this facility.

“The Buffalo range has earned an outstanding reputation as a tough and reliable premium product not only capable of handling our own demanding conditions, but that of the many countries throughout the world to which it is exported.

"The product features Honda's advanced four-stroke technology, which reduces noise and exhaust emissions while maintaining strong power and torque characteristics with reduced fuel consumption."

Recently celebrating its 20th birthday, Honda's Australia manufacturing facility is fast approaching the production of its 500,000 lawnmower.

Producing 10 different lawnmower variants at a rate of almost 40,000 units per year, the facility also turns out five different brushcutter models and employs up to 30 staff over two shifts. Ray Briffa said Honda had a strong ongoing commitment to Australian manufacturing.

"During a time where manufacturing in Australia is increasingly under pressure, Honda sees many opportunities in maintaining and further developing its Australian manufacturing base," he said.

The Honda Buffalo lawnmower and brushcutter ranges offer a wide choice of models for both domestic and commercial users.
