Fire & sound barrier sealant
Firesound sealant from HB Fuller , which provides a fire and sound barrier for gaps and expansion joints, has up to a four hour rating, having been tested according to AS1530.4-1990/AS4072.1-1992 and BS476:part 20M 1987. Additionally, Firesound has been tested to perform as an effective acoustic sealant (up to STC 65/RW65).
Firesound can be used to seal exterior and interior construction joints that are subject to movement (up to ±20%) in a variety of substrates like pre-cast concrete panels, fire-rated plasterboard and brickwork. However, when using Firesound externally, it must be painted or protected from the elements.
Able to provide a fire and sound proof barrier to gaps around cables, metal pipes, conduits, busways and ducts that penetrate walls and floors, if joint movement is not required Firesound sealant can be used as a putty for filling holes in fire-rated substrates.
Firesound also has the added benefits of being paintable. The product is non-toxic - containing no heavy metals, and no isocyanates.
