Grip Guard Non Slip recently exhibited their floor safety products and services at the Safety in Action Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
Architects expressed their interest in Grip Guard anti-slip treatment as it opens up a whole new range of floor surfaces for outdoor use or interior wet areas and foyers. There was also an overwhelming response from tile suppliers who could see the possibilities of broadening the applications for certain tiles and stone that were previously unsuitable for outdoor or wet-area applications.
Previously, many high gloss surfaces were unsuitable for use in wet areas or outdoors because they became dangerously slippery when wet. Grip Guard anti-slip treatment allows architects and property owners to select a floor surface that does not have the required slip resistance and have it treated with the Grip Guard anti-slip treatment to create a safe pedestrian environment.
Grip Guard anti-slip treatment does not change the appearance of the floor surface unlike traditional anti-slip treatments like floor etching, which chemically abrades the uppermost surface of the tile. These types of treatment often alter the colour and reduce the natural lustre of the floor surface.
Grip Guard anti-slip treatment is not a coating and does not wear away over time. The treatment is a permanent modification of the floor surface. It works its way into the surface of the tile or stone and microscopically alters the pore structure to reduce the possibility of aquaplaning, the most common cause of slips and falls.
Grip Guard anti-slip treatment is carried out by trained operators who measure the slip resistance of floor surfaces both before and after treatment.
