GreenPainters Association had developed a new course in Natural Painting to improve awareness of sustainable products amongst painting contractors.
Developed by GreenPainters Training, with funding from industry partners Bauwerk Colour, Rockcote, BIO and Livos, and Sequence Australia, the Natural Painting course is designed to give painters skills to address the needs of the eco-building industry, eco-conscious consumers; and to improve environmental management in the industry in general.
Daniel Wurm, Managing Director of GreenPainters said that it is important to consider the benefits of natural paint products. Unlike conventional paints, natural paints manufactured using renewable or highly abundant resources, not petroleum by-products, making them the most sustainable coatings available.
With the recent push toward eco-consciousness, many consumers and tradesmen have become more aware of the consequences of using conventional paint systems. Consumers are demanding less toxic products, but may need assistance in making sustainable choices.
While many painters avoid using natural paints because of perceived higher cost, and unfamiliarity with them, GreenPainters are helping them to see that using natural paints will not only help the environment, but also improve their health. Natural paints are available in a variety of colours, enabling users to have the latest fashionable colours.
The one-day course also focuses on waste-water and environmental management. The first course will be run at the Home Ideas Centre in Sydney on November 6.
