Gorter Hatches has developed a patented plenum system to solve the problem of accessing roof areas through a suspended ceiling. The plenum system is a series of steps that span the distance between a suspended ceiling and the roof without missing a single step, maintaining the same incline as the stair reaching the ceiling. This plenum system allows a scissor stair attic ladder to be placed in the ceiling and the roof hatch placed above the ceiling on the roof up to 1.2m. Gorter Hatches has a system to safely span the gap between attic ladder and roof, even if the distance is greater.
Gorter roof hatches and attic ladders are made from high quality materials and comply with Australian, European and national standards. The large aluminium steps of the attic ladder are anti skid, and can be adjusted to be perfectly horizontal regardless of the incline of the stair thanks to the unique pivot system.
Gorter scissor stair attic ladders are available in a range of sizes, and are suitable for heights of up to 3.5metres, floor to ceiling. A telescopic handrail is mounted the attic ladders for safety, and the assembly is counter balanced for ease of use with less than 3kg of force needed to operate the attic stairs. The high strength design ensures heavy duty access for domestic and industrial applications. Gorter attic ladders are supplied with a hinged ceiling panel, becoming almost invisible within the ceiling when not in use.

Gorter scissor stair attic ladders are available in a fire rated option, as well as an electrically operated option, making operation even more convenient.
An optional plenum ladder, which spans the distance between a suspended ceiling and the roof without changing the gradient of the steps, is also available and is attached to the roof cavity and the attic ladder.
