The newly built shopping centre at Western Sydney required an overall disability standard AS/NZS 1428.4 - 2002 compliant solution. Global Safe Technologies were contacted by the management to provide a one stop solution for the shopping centre.
The solution included the full assessment of the tactile requirements in the centre, luminance contrast testing of the various substrates and providing and installing a suitable range of tactile ground surface indicators for the various locations as well as signing off the completed work.
Carl Strautins from Safe Environments was involved in providing the overall assessment, luminance testing of the substrates and recommending the suitable luminance contrast colours for the various locations.
Shopping centre management was confident engaging Global Safe Technologies for the entire project as Global Safe Technologies not only offered the entire solution was required, but also has a good understanding of the relevant standards and application, proven quality and range of the product, long term warranty, ongoing risk management programme (FSMP) and competitive price.
The car park area was chosen at stage one for the tactile installation. Global Safe Technologies and their authorised floor safety representative Global Safe NSW have completed the installation of a large number of tactiles in the car park. The job was done out of hours, so the shopping centre patronage and normal operation was not effected by the work.
Shopping centre management is satisfied not only with the quality of the work, but also the professionalism of the staff attended the site. Stage two of the work has commenced and expected to complete well before the increased traffic for Christmas shopping starts.
Global Safe Technologies have worked closely with Safe Environment’s representative ensuring that the entire project would be a success.
