Super Seal sealants available from GO Distribution
A new sealant that is an alternative to the need for costly refrigeration repairs has proved to be ideal for a heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R) specialist operating in Australia’s tropical north.
Rob Middleton, a Cairns based technician, uses Super Seal in applications on micro leaks, where it can save expensive replacement costs, arduous restoration procedures or potentially costly delays when sourcing new parts.
The technology applies to all industries using HVAC and refrigeration plants, including building, construction, electrical, farming, food and beverage processing, food service, horticulture, restaurants, manufacturing, primary production and meat and primary processing.
Two recent applications involved a refrigerator and an air conditioning unit that were both in good working order apart from small but worrying persistent leaks.
“On both projects, the customer was concerned that they would have to fork out thousands of dollars for new equipment, but when we discovered Super Seal, it was the logical resolution,” said Rob Middleton.
“We found electrolysis occurring on the failing air conditioning condenser and to replace that alone was going to cost $4500. But using gas, a dryer and Super Seal, it cost less than $1000.”
“It was the practical solution and we haven’t had a problem since, it’s a 100 per cent success and I have no reason to doubt the sealant will continue to be effective in repairing any future leaks that may occur without us even knowing,” said Rob Middleton.
Similarly inexpensive and effective results were achieved on the refrigerator, said Rob Middleton, who discovered Super Seal at the Cairns Trade Show, where he met Gary Oborne, Managing Director of GO Distribution , the Australian distributor of Super Seal.
After the success on the refrigerator and air conditioning system, Rob Middleton now carries sealant from the range of Super Seal as an option for customers who have micro leaks in systems that cannot be found or accessed easily.
When injected into an HVAC/R system, the formulation circulates through the system with the refrigerant and oil. At the point where the refrigerant leaks, it begins to lower the ambient air temperature down to the dew point where micro droplets of moisture are deposited around the leak area.
The escaping refrigerant containing Super Seal reacts with this moisture to form a permanent low tensile crystalline structure, which seals the hole from the inside out.
The process can be compared with the human body and how blood clots to stop the bleeding of a wound, says Gary Oborne.
“We always say if you can find the leak, fix it. One of the great strengths of this method of repair in many commercial HVAC/R systems is that technicians don’t have to dig through concrete and steel or cut through metal to get to pipes that may be buried within structures, costing large amounts of money to access.
“The time taken and money saved to repair a micro leak in a system using Super Seal is far less than having to cut open the structures or spend hours searching for that elusive, inaccessible leak.
“Rob Middleton’s experience provides just two examples from a global list of success stories where Super Seal has saved customers time and money whilst reducing stress and worry for the technician and the customer.
“The product is reaching further and wider to more Australian technicians who have found that Super Seal really works,” says Gary Oborne.
Super Seal is suitable for all air conditioning and refrigeration applications and is compatible with all oils and refrigerants.
Super Seal will not interfere with compressor valves, capillary tubes or TX valves and will remain stable within the refrigerant stream.
Many industries in Australia and globally have utilised Super Seal, including food and primary production processing and packaging plants as well as factories (including a Ford plant), shops, office buildings and commercial kitchen applications, says Gary Oborne.
Super Seal is available in three varieties, for systems from: Super Seal ACR 0.7kW → 5.3kW (1/10hp → 7hp);
Super Seal HVACR 5.3kW → 17.6kW (7hp → 23hp) and Super Seal Commercial 17.6kW → (23hp →). Super Seal Pro can be used for automotive and mobile air conditioning applications.
