The double-layered revetment mattress is tailor-made on the project site to fit the area requiring erosion control. The crew stitches fabric panels together using handheld electric sewing machines and makes allowances for any structures and pipes that need to be included in the protected area.
Once ready, the revetment mattress is positioned over the required area and a high strength grout is injected between the fabric layers so that the mattress inflates to provide a solid barrier against erosion.
The revetment mattress is currently being used by a number of local councils to provide drainage, culvert and bridge abutment protection.
