Erosion Protection Systems , a specialist in erosion control, were recently involved in the protection of a reservoir at Uranquinty Power station, near Wagga Wagga.
Due to its water retention capabilities, Erosion Protection Systems’ Uniform mattress was used to line the pond, with the top and bottom edges keyed into anchor trenches to ensure there is no scouring under the matt.
The concrete mattress also protects the sides of the pond from erosion as a result of wind generated wave action. Expansion joints were constructed in the mattress to allow for temperature extremes in the area. The 4000sqm of Uniform matt was installed in less than 3 weeks.
The revetment mattress products used by EPS are manufactured in Australia. The revetment system involves the injection of a high strength grout between the layers of a fabric formwork and installation rates of 400sqm per day are not uncommon.
