Erosion Protection Systems (EPS), specialists in erosion control, recently installed a concrete-filled mattress to provide protection for a 200m long embankment in Port Kembla, south of Sydney.
A 125mm filter matt was used to line the slope, and to ensure no loss of material from under the matt, the top and bottom edges were keyed into anchor trenches. The concrete-filled mattress was coloured to blend in with its environment. The paint provides additional protection for the fabric against ultraviolet rays.
The revetment mattress products installed by EPS are manufactured in Australia to the highest quality. The revetment system involves the injection of a high strength grout between the layers of a fabric formwork and installation rates of 400 square metres per day are not uncommon.
