Erosion Protection Systems (EPS) specialise in controlling erosion around engineering structures. EPS were recently contracted to install a grout filled revetment mattress to the embankments surrounding the Catherine Gorge boat ramp in the Northern Territory.
The 100mm thick revetment mattress was used to provide stability to the slope surrounding the ramp. Where the revetment mattress extended into the water, a flexible block matt was incorporated to allow for settlement/scouring in these areas. The process involves the injection of a high strength grout between the layers of a fabric formwork.
The project was completed in three days, and is testament to the versatility of the product when working in isolated areas. To reduce establishment costs, the fabric, specialist equipment and installer were flown to site. The project was then conducted within the frameworks of the local contractor who supplied the labour, pump, grout and other incidentals.
