Special care toilet seats
The Danish-designed Pressalit Care range of ultra-strong toilet seats is now available in Australia from Enware. Specifically designed for applications involving aged care, health care and people with disabilities, the Pressalit range is ergonomically constructed in scratch-resistant and burn-resistant material, with strong, stainless steel hinges.
Toilet seats in the range have stability buffers mounted on the front of the seat, designed to protect the hinges from becoming loose and breaking as a result of continual wheelchair transfers and heavy use.
Examples of Pressalit Care seats include the top-selling Dania R37 series which features a flat surface profile to support people of all weights and degrees of self-support while also allowing for wheelchair users to make transfers easily. The seat cover acts as a comfortable load-bearing seat when down, and functions as a supportive back rest when up.
Pressalit Care toilet seats can be retro-fitted to existing toilet pans. They come in 50 or 100mm raised versions that can be tilted upright when not required. The Dania 50mm achieves a seat height similar to an average wheelchair for a level transfer, while the 100mm model is fitted with a splashguard for hygiene and safety. Forward sloping models are also available, further enhancing access.
