Constructed in 2002, the Avondale College Auditorium is part of the extensive campus located at sunny Cooranbong, near Morisset on the New South Wales Central Coast. The auditorium had to operate as a multi function centre with intended usage extending from noisy basket ball tournaments to serious drama. To acoustically satisfy these needs, a low reverberation time was required along with high rain noise attenuation and adequate thermal insulation.
Envirospray 300 spray from Enviro Acoustics was applied directly to the metal roof in a metal grey colour to obtain rain noise reduction. An NRC 1.0 Envirospray 300 panel was also installed on all the side walls and screeded back to obtain a 'Via panel’ look. Fabric wrapped fibreglass acoustic panels were installed in low areas to offer an extra tough surface against basketball impact damage.
