Synthetic landscaping alternatives to the traditional backyard lawn

Water restrictions have had a huge impact on anyone who takes pride in their backyard; especially if the jewel in its crown is a beautiful green, sprawling lawn – an Australian suburban icon.
Many Australians have done their bit this past year and sacrificed the lawn, letting them turn pale and crunchy.
But how many have taken the time to consider more creative options and perhaps a solution to our backyard blues?
While some might think it extreme, an artificial lawn has its benefits for anyone who has their heart set on a lush green look. Coming into summer it may also appeal to active young families.
Artificial grass creates the perfect soft, bouncy surface for a friendly game of cricket or football with the kids.
In fact, artificial turf is often used in arenas for sports that are normally played on grass.

‘Real grass is beautiful, but the most work intensive part of gardens requiring mowing, edging aerating, fertilising and spraying,’ he says, ‘But going synthetic is simple, realistic and low maintenance.’
