The unique cooking needs of Australian home cooks have been built into the new Glem gas cooktop range, with Glem’s Italian designers impressing with their innovations in kitchen appliances.
Manufactured in the recently opened Glem Gas cooktop factory in Modena, northern Italy, the new range of four cooktops blends sleek contemporary designs and high quality materials.
The 75cm 4 burner cooktop (FC74GSWI) has been designed with the serious Australian stir fry chef in mind.
Research by Emilia Glem revealed that Australian cooks wanted a gas cooktop which could accommodate a wok for stir frying and a large pot for cooking rice on a 75cm-wide hob.
The smaller hob has become increasingly popular with the trend towards smaller size apartment living and kitchens to match.
Glem designers placed a dual control wok burner on the left of the cooktop and a triple ring wok burner on the right for large pots. The central medium and small burners can be used for simmering and lower-heat cooking tasks.
The special design of the 4-burner model means it can also be installed into a standard 60cm cooktop bench cutout.
With a focus on form and function the designers have purposely positioned he trivets at the edge of the stainless steel hob thereby maximising the cooking area and creating strong aesthetic appeal.
Other design elements that increase the cooking area include the layout of the burners and the positioning of the controls at the front of the hob. The designers have used a single piece of stainless steel to allow for easier cleaning
The double wok burners are controlled by two knobs which give the cook good flame control for cooking tasks as diverse as high performance stir frying to small pot, low heat simmering – all on the one burner.
The cooktops also include the standard Glem features – cast iron trivets for a commercial look and hard wearing performance, auto electronic ignition and flame failure safety valves.

The new 60cm FC64GWI 4 burner Glem gas cooktop, designed to maximise the cooking space on a small size hob. The offset layout for the burners creates an interesting design and allows a wok to be used without touching the back wall or other pots.
The FC75GSWI which has been designed to offer cooks a full range of 5 burners and large format performance in a 75cm cooktop. The left-side dual control wok burner allows for both high performance wok cooking and low power simmering on the one burner.
The FC95GWI 90cm cooktop, with good maximum cooking space and burner layout, includes a dual control wok burner on the left which caters for all frying and stir frying requirements leaving ample space to use the remaining 4 burners in a variety of combinations.
The introduction of the cooktop range follows the recent launch into the Australian market of the Glem built-in oven range.
Featuring nine models the range includes the classic four-function 60cm fan-forced oven and the nine-function double oven with pyrolitic cleaning feature. The oven widths range from 60cm single and double ovens to big volume 70cm and 90cm models.
