Electrical Trades Union  represents more than 26000 electrical trade workers and electricians. These workers and electricians are spread across the various industries such as communications, power and construction.

Electrical Trades Union is one of the oldest unions of Australia which was formed to improve working conditions for the workers and also provide safety to its members. The organisation is democratic in structure and is run by its members. Electrical Trades Union has been successful in advancing opportunities and wages to its members.

The officials of Electrical Trades Union are elected by its members and the officials offer advice and make suggestions that are reviewed and decided by the members at the end of the day.

Electrical Trades Union affiliated with NSW Trades & Labor Council in 1903 and made claims for multiple hourly rates for overtime. Two years down the line, Electrical Trades Union received an award namely the Electricians & c (State) Award, which was also its first award. Electrical Trades Union has raised its voice for various issues such as paid training leave, shift loadings, meal allowance, site allowance, superannuation, tool allowance, protective clothing, and so on.
