New stormwater treatment filter
The Filternator, from Eimco Water Technologies is a gravity controlled cartridge filter that filters stormwater. The cartridges can be installed with a wide variety of filtering media, providing complete flexibility. All types of pollutants are its target. The most utilised media is perlite.
Copa Filternator operates by filtering the stormwater through a number of media filled cartridges, contained in a concrete vault. These filter cartridges are drained, via a central drain tube located on the vertical axis of each cartridge. The filtered water exits the bottom of the cartridge from the drain tube into a collector manifold. This collection manifold is sealed by a slide gate. As the water within the vault rises to the top of the cartridges, a float rises and in turn opens the slide gate, allowing the controlled filtration process to begin. Using specific filter media, the Copa Filternator is able to remove a variety of heavy metals, nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous, as well as hydrocarbons.
The Copa Storm pit is for smaller developments or as a retro fit. It comes complete with precast concrete pits with single or multiple cartridge configurations and can be adapted to suit any location.
These units use a proven technology which targets specific pollutants and they have an internal bypass that minimises resuspension of trapped pollutants.
