The Excelet is the latest innovation in waterless composting toilets to come from Ecoflo Water Management .
Unlike most composting toilets, the Excelet is self-contained which means it sits on the toilet room floor and requires no space beneath it. As such, it suits potential buyers who are unable to install a composting chamber beneath their bathroom floor due to their home being built on a concrete slab.
Stuart Elliott, Managing Director, came up with the concept in response to rising demand for a cheaper alternative to septic systems which he believes is being driven by the current economic climate.
According to Elliott, people who require a toilet in their weekender, backyard shed, or temporary dwelling are not too keen on forking out several thousands of dollars for a septic system.
With the financial crisis tightening everyone’s budgets, people are looking for cheaper products that do not compromise on quality.
If the toilet is used infrequently, there is no need to purchase a large capacity system such as a septic tank or a large composting toilet.
According to Elliott, the Excelet was designed to provide toilet facilities for low volume situations such as these at a low price.
An additional benefit of the Excelet is the fact that it does not rely on water for the treatment of waste.
The Excelet relies on the natural composting process to convert waste into soil and as such, the whole process is entirely free of water.
Elliott believes the Excelet will save people money and water, two issues of primary concern to a nation struggling to cope with financial pressures and drought.
