Ecoflo Water Management manufactures a waterless toilet which hygienically recycles human waste.
It avoids the need to waste and pollute precious water. The waste is collected in a small chamber directly beneath the toilet pedestal.
A low powered 12 volt electric fan continually circulates air through the chamber, evaporating liquids, speeding the composting process and eliminating odours.
The Sun-Mar Centrex 2000 is a split system one pint (half litre) flush composting toilet which can be installed such that the composting unit is not directly beneath the pedestal. A low flush pedestal is supplied which is connected to the composting unit by a 75 mm pipe.
The Sun-Mar Centrex 2000 allows the installation of a split system toilet where there is only 900 mm between the bathroom floor and the ground.
In this case the composting unit would normally be located beside the house within 5 m of the pedestal. (There is therefore no view of waste material when looking into the pedestal.)
If the ground slopes away from the house to where the composting unit is to be located it may be possible to install a Centrex 2000 where the bathroom floor is on the slab.
The horizontally mounted composting drum provides optimum composting conditions with its tumbling action to aerate and mix the contents. The heater is ideal for colder climates and accelerates the composting process.
The Sun-Mar Centrex 2000 is designed to evaporate all liquid. The final processing is completed in the finishing tray isolated from any fresh material. The finished earth like composted humus is odourless.
It is removed only 4-5 times a year and is normally used for soil enrichment. The Sun-Mar Centrex 2000 is suitable for homes of up to and including five people. For larger homes there is the Centrex 3000.
The Centrex has been certified to Australian Standards for waterless toilets and meets the requirements of the Queensland EPA. The Centrex has been submitted for approval in other states and certification is expected within weeks.
The Centrex is ideal for people who prefer the look of a conventional pedestal and who feel the need to flush after using the toilet. More than one pedestal can be connected to one composting unit.
