EcoSmart Fire's new 60s-inspired retro model
Inspired by the revolutionary designs of the swinging 1960s pop culture, The Fire Company has released a new model of its freestanding EcoSmart Fire - the Retro.
The Retro’s classic yet modern rounded corners and tube design make it a fun and timeless piece to suit a wide variety of contemporary décor styles.
The Retro is suitable for modern apartments, creative office spaces or contemporary restaurants and hotels.
Australian designed and manufactured in Sydney, the Retro comes in a whole spectrum of funkadelic colours from fire engine red, saffron yellow and royal blue to apple green.
Designed to accept the EcoSmart Burner, the Retro is made from weatherproof materials including fiberglass, stainless steel and toughened glass.
The new moulding process used in the creation of this model has allowed Retro’s award-winning designers Paul Cohen and Marc Veenendaal to work with a number of new finishes including Kevlar, Carbon Fibre, and intricately detailed patterns.
The Retro also comes with a PVC protective cover. The Retro was officially launched at the Maison et Objet show in Paris from 7-11 September 2007.
This latest EcoSmart Fire is just one of several models in the EcoSmart Designer range. Freestanding with no hard connection and no flue, they redefine the fireplace in a market that has long been traditional.
And as the name suggests, EcoSmart Fires are good for the environment. EcoSmart Fires are fuelled by denatured ethanol, which is an environmentally friendly, renewable energy.
- Retro dimensions: 880mm [35in] x 880mm [35in] x 530mm [21in]
The EcoSmart range:
- EcoSmart Burner Kit (the core to all EcoSmart Fire’s also available separately to create your own masterpiece)
- Renovator range (a series of zero clearance fireboxes that include the Burner Kit)
- Designer range (a collection of freestanding pieces of furniture)
- Grate range (a series of fireplace inserts for the more traditional setting)
EcoSmart Fire is a unique new concept in heating and has several distinct features:

- EcoSmart Fire is fuelled by Denatured Ethanol, which is an environmentally friendly, renewable energy.
- EcoSmart Fire is versatile enough to fit into a wide range of architectural environments from houses, townhouses to apartments – restaurants, bars and offices.
- Depending on the setting chosen, there is virtually no assembly.
