EcoNova’s in-building waste water recycling project for TAC, Victoria

EcoNova  have finalised an in-building waste water recycling project for the Transit Accident Commission (TAC) in Victoria.

The TAC commercial premises in Geelong will utilise the EcoNova waste water recycling system to treat onsite black and grey water for reuse in flushing toilets, and for air conditioning cooling towers, as well as site irrigation.

The in-building waste water recycling infrastructure was constructed within the basement carpark of the TAC 5 building took, and is approaching commissioning in October 2008.

EcoNova Director, Christian Uhrig says, "The project was a relatively straightforward operation. Now that the Federal Government have launched their Green Building Fund, allocating $90million to commercial retrofit projects which incorporate energy and water efficiency measures, EcoNova anticipate many more commercial refurbishments which incorporate our waste water recycling technology."

EcoNova have demonstrated capability to provide in-building water infrastructure for new or retrofit projects. Services include Grey and Black Water treatment for reuse, and sewer mining applications, ultrafiltration / reverse osmosis treatment for cooling tower reuse, rainwater harvesting and storage, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure, and assistance with grant applications.

By incorporating water efficient practices into commercial projects, developers are able to increase Green Star rating for sustainable developments, reducing associated headworks charges.
