Carbon beads from Eco-carbons used for extraction of gold
Eco-carbons ’ carbon beads find application in a number of areas. The activated carbon acts as a filtration agent and this activated carbon is derived from charcoal. By converting charcoal to activated carbon, a product with a high surface area is produced. This enables the activated carbon to act as a sponge.
Activated carbon from Eco-carbons acts as a filter to purify air, liquids. It is also used for the extraction of gold. Activated carbon has pharmaceutical uses as well. It is particularly used for treating poison ingestion. Activated carbon is produced from coal, timbers and from coconut shells. They can also be derived from fruit stones, animal bone and nut shells.
The carbon beads from Eco-carbons are also used for purification of foods and colouring of foods. For the extraction of gold, the carbon acts as a sponge for aurocyanide and other ions. The gold cyanide complex is adsorbed on to the activated carbon until equilibrium is achieved. Then the gold complex can be separated from the carbon by using a wire mesh.
