Insulated roof membrane assembly available from Dynamic Composite Technologies
Green roofs are no longer the preserve of a few idealists but have been accepted into the mainstream of both design and the planning of communities. Green roofs provide clear environmental benefits and now, due to the development of hydro planting, can be created faster and more effectively.
Flat roofs of suitable construction may be used to provide planted or landscaped areas which can offer a valuable amenity within the built environment. Such green roofs can enhance the appearance of the building and provide additional outdoor facilities for building users.
The benefits do not stop there though. Green roofs protect buildings from heat and noise, collect rain water, and reduce urban heat. This is why over 60,000m2 of Styrofoam was used in the construction of the New Parliament House during the 1980’s.
The IRMA (insulated roof membrane assembly) is the ideal system for Australia over other green roof systems because it is the only system able to cope with extreme climatic conditions in flat, concrete, and metal deck roof construction.
The IRMA roof, from Dynamic Composite Technologies places the membrane under the insulation. With insulation protection above and roof deck protection below, waterproofing membranes (sheet or liquid) retain their protective properties.
Only one insulation material, Dow Chemicals Styrofoam brand insulation possesses the properties required for the IRMA roof. Stryofoam is made from extruded polystyrene foam, perfected over 45 years ago and perfectly suited for IRMA roofs due to its compressive strength making the area trafficable.
