Dynalite control system available

Dynalite system
According to Property Developer and Holistic Designer Claire Harrigan, the interior of a residence should be as interchangeable as the mood of the inhabitants.

Claire used this vision as the basis for residential design in London, England by creating an environment that can be changed at the discretion of the owner.

Short of continuous redecorating, Claire realised that the only way to achieve the flexibility she desired was through the use of different coloured light.

The challenge then was to find a simple way to control the lighting in the living space so that the user could not only reflect how they felt at that moment in time but through the use of changing colour combinations, could actually have a positive influence on their mood and overall well-being.

Environmentally conscious Claire felt that the energy efficient and long lasting properties of LED fittings provided light that was purer and cleaner than conventional halogens and also wanted to minimise the negative effects of electromagnetic pollution generated from mains wiring.

To assist in bringing her vision to life, Claire turned to smart home specialists, Morban Intelligent Living, who devised a lighting scheme that addressed both the aesthetic and environmental aspects of her vision.

The downstairs living space of the East London property features dimmable pure white LED spotlights and RGB LED strips at ceiling height and ground level, providing a wash of colour on the pure white walls and controlled directly from the Dynalite system.

LED spotlights are dimmed via 1-10V signals from the Dynalite DDBC1200 HF Ballast Controller and colour change LEDs are driven directly from a Dynalite DDLEDC605 LED controller.

A single Dynalite Revolution Panel in a White Glass finish provides a simple, sleek and contemporary user interface for individual selection of up to 144 different colour combinations.

Combinations are selected by scrolling through the 12 different predetermined colours using a pair of buttons on the panel; one for high level LEDs and one for low level.

The panel also contains a number of static and dynamic preset scenes - ritual, retreat, mind, body and spirit - aimed at providing the perfect environment for any mood.

The master bedroom contains colour-change LED lighting displaying alternate scenes and highlighting architectural features. In the master ensuite, a free-standing luxury shower is illuminated by RGB LED Strips behind white opaque glass.

At the touch of a button on a Revolution Panel, a program of subtle colour change is initiated, intended to either revitalise and invigorate in the morning or relax and soothe at night.

Throughout the rest of the house, Morban have integrated the lighting system with the security system via a single RS232 connection using the Dynalite DNG232 Network Gateway. When the house is occupied, security sensors enable automated lighting control in the entrance hall and pathway lighting throughout the communal areas at night.

When unoccupied, the same sensors monitor movement and entry points and, in the event of an intruder alarm, the security system alerts the owner by telephone and house lights flash to on.

Morban Intelligent Living brought to life Claire’s vision of an environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing residential setting.

Through the use of low voltage LEDs and the Dynalite control system, installed using shielded data cable, Morban have provided a solution that not only addresses the colour-changing, mood-affecting requirements of the project, but minimises the negative effects of electromagnetic pollution caused by mains wiring found in a more conventional lighting installation.
