While the trend towards medium and high density city living shows no sign of stopping, many urban developments are built without considering the need that people have to stay in touch with the outdoors. This is where roofscaping comes in, allowing city dwellers to enjoy the natural environment.
An example of a roofscaping’s introduction into the local landscape is at Mirvac’s Yarra’s Edge apartment project in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct where roofscaping was incorporated into the overall design. The sixth floor podium level design was carried out by Edaw, incorporating hardy plants with decorative recycled glass and pebble paths supplied by DécoR Pebble. This beautiful area can be seen from many areas of the development and makes a wonderful departure from the traditionally drab and uninteresting roofs in most developments.
DécoR Glass and DécoR Pebble provide light weight permanent coloured aggregate for greenscaping of urban high-rise roof decks. The 5-10mm glass and pebble aggregates can be loose laid or mixed with an adhesive epoxy or acrylic resin to hold them. While DécoR Pebble manufactured aggregates offer a more cost effective product, the 36 colours of crushed recycled DécoR Glass aggregates offers a greater range of colours.
