Davey Products have launched the Aquashield Max automatic water treatment package for the pressure boosting and disinfection of rainwater, especially where conserved and stored rainwater is desired to be used as a potable drinking water supply.
The typical applications often in rural areas include domestic households, schools, commercial toilet flushing, public buildings and accommodation facilities such as motels, guest houses or bed and breakfast venues.
In fact any situation where there is a desire or need to ensure that rainwater is safe for drinking and free of contaminants.
Rainwater harvesting is growing rapidly in metropolitan areas as community understanding of the potential rainwater options grows and as consumers want drinking water that is free of metals and chlorine.
Davey Products’ Aquashield Max is also suitable for bacteria and algal control for aquaculture projects or water features as well as treating bore or surface water supply sources.
The Aquashield Max provides in one convenient fully engineered and ready to install package, a proven three stage process to treat micro-organisms such as viruses, bacteria and parasitic cysts usually resulting from contamination caused from bird or animal droppings, which can contaminate a rainwater collection area.
Designed with a series of steps from 20 micron to 1 micron filtration and Ultra Violet disinfection, the three treatment stages employ two Filterpure cartridge filtration stages, and exposure to UV light at 254nm in a Steriflo UV chamber which damages the DNA of contaminants.
Fitted within a heavy duty self contained plastic housing the unit employs flexible plumbing and connection options with all internal water works using braided stainless steel hoses.
Designed and built as a plug and play package with high flow rates and low friction losses with connection to a 240V plug, the Aquashield Max has been designed with the plumber in mind – make is simple and quick to get the system right.
The Aquashield unit is able to deliver treated water at flows of up to 70 litres per minute and pressures of up to 850kPa – ample water for a large multi bathroom dwelling, or large toilet block.
The Aquashield Max can be supplied with a Davey Torrium intelligent adaptive pump controller or a RainBank Mark II controller, the latter where rainwater needs to be backed up with a mains water source ideally in a metropolitan application.
The controllers are interlocked with the UV, so that untreated rainwater will not be delivered without a warning being provided.
Davey Products Market Manager for Water Conservation & Treatment, Max Ekins says that the Aquashield Max has been introduced to provide a simple package to ensure rainwater is delivered at the highest possible quality, convenience and safety.
“It also affords an easy to install treatment package with a modest purchase cost and low lifecycle treatment costs that employs a combination of Davey’s factory matched and tested products.
“By creating a unit which is compact, durable and professionally plumbed Davey has brought a three stage treatment process into one compact and convenient package.
Max Ekins said that the Aquashield Max is also eligible for a number of water conservation equipment rebates towards its purchase cost that are provided under Local, State & Federal Government water conservation initiatives.
