Thousands attend inaugural Complete Home Show

The weekend saw thousands attend the Complete Home Show, Sydney’s newest major home show, which took place from 12 – 14 September at the Royal Hall of Industries and Hordern Pavilion in Moore Park.

The show, offering visitors the latest in design & decorating, building & renovating and cooking & lifestyle, was deemed a great success by all, with over 8,000 visitors attending and many exhibitors already booking their stands for the Complete Home Show 2009.

A major drawcard for the show was the Cooking and Lifestyle Stage in the Royal Hall of Industries, where Chefs on the Run and their guest chefs whipped up a range of simple and delicious recipe ideas using the latest in home cookware technology from LG Electronics Australia. Hilton Sydney Executive Chef Gary Johnson tempted taste buds with his simple yet delicious breakfast ideas; Andy Ball, Head Chef at Bel Mondo, showed audiences how to prepare gourmet pasta at home with a prawn and scallop tortellini dish and Chefs on the Run’s own Vanessa Wiedenmann prepared her Melbourne Food and Wine Festival award-winning recipe for five-spiced duck and porcini ragu pasta.

Also on the Cooking and Lifestyle Stage were Shannon Lush, Australia’s very own ‘Queen of Clean’ and author of bestselling books Spotless and How to be Comfy, the Office of Fair Trading providing tips on how to enjoy trouble-free building and Abode Picture Hanging giving insight on the art of picture display and hanging.

At the Design and Decorating stage in the Hordern Pavilion, seminars from the International School of Colour and Design provided visitors with all the latest interior decorating and colour trends, as well as advice on how to choose and use colour with confidence in the home.

Hundreds of businesses exhibited, including a large number of companies providing green solutions for the home – everything from solar heating and water tanks to water recycling systems for the garden. Visitors also enjoyed the great prizes on offer at the Complete Home Show, including a kitchen worth $25,000 from Kitcheners Kitchens, a $10,000 renovation from the Modern Group and a Husqvarna Automower from GYC.

“After months of planning, it’s great to see the show come alive and the response has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Norm Lembke, Exhibition Director, Complete Exhibitions .

“We’re already thinking about the 2009 show and are currently working with a number of exciting companies to ensure next year’s event is even bigger and better than this years.”

Celebrating the diversity of Sydney’s homeowners and homes, The Complete Home Show showcased and demonstrated practical and up-to-date home and lifestyle solutions to homeowners, renters and investors.
