The Chatswood to Epping rail link is the largest publicly funded infrastructure project under way in NSW.
Major construction began in 2002 and once complete the line is expected to generate an extra 7.1m new trips.
Claude Group is playing a major role in the project - having been contracted to implement a wayfinding and directional signage solution for the entire link.
Over 1000 different types of signs from simple male and female toilet markers, through to scrolling platform signage positioned above escalators and totems providing directional information, have been implemented in the project.
Implementation required strict adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures. Additionally, all Claude Group staff present at the site completed occupational health and safety training courses required to work within close proximity to trains and train lines.
Stage 1 of the development is now complete with Epping station open to the public. Further stages are due to be completed towards the end of 2007.
