World leading innovations were highlighted in the annual New South Wales Civil Contractors Federation 2008 Earth Awards announced in Sydney.
Working in challenging operational and congested urban situations were commonplace for the award winning New South Wales contractors. The five category winners covered construction contracts ranging from $500,000 more than $40 million.
The New South awards are the third in a series of state-based awards, which will culminate the national awards on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in November this year.
The Earth Awards are designed to highlight distinction in:
Projects are split into a range of categories, which reflect the main break-up of work done in the civil construction sector:
- Category one – project value up to $1 million
- Category two – $1 million to $5 million
- Category three – $5 million to $20 million
- Category four – $20 million to $75 million
- Category five – more than $75 million
The category winners for the New South Wales are:
- Category 1 – Sam Fiszman Park, Bondi
- Category 2 – The View, Bilambil Heights
- Category 3 – Rehabilitation of the Western Branch Main Sewer
- Category 4 – Great Southern Ocean Exhibit, Taronga Zoo
- Category 5 – Pacific Highway Bonville upgrade
Each of these category winners have fulfilled the major environmental and construction requirements to qualify for - contractor of the year - in each of their categories.
The winners are Resource Management Synergy, South East Excavations, Interflow, Reed Constructions Australia and Abigroup Contractors.
